Are Witches Insane? Ep.02

Witchcraft between Religion and Mental Health: an intersectional lens

CORRECTION: I've been made aware after this episode was out that The Stitching Witch pronouns are they/them, my apologies for the mistaken use of pronouns in this episode

In this second episode we take an intersectional lens to look at modern witchcraft at the intersection of Religion and Mental Health, before diving in how Race plays a crucial role between being “a quirky person with an original spirituality” and “a mentally ill person who needs to be locked up”.

Some of the things cited in the episode include:

The original essay where Kimberle Crenshaw coined the term “Intersectionality”

Demarginalizing the Intersection of Race and Sex: A Black Feminist Critique of Antidiscrimination Doctrine, Feminist Theory and Antiracist Politics

The episode of Cracked Ivory by Talia Bhatt and Dolphin DiariesWhose Intersectionality Is It Anyway? Crenshaw’s Theory of Intersectionality” featuring Kay

Some mention of Elsa from the UK Big Brother 2025 because it was extremely interesting to see the potential threat she was subject to, even being cis, white, and dainty. Though after all, the cis, white, daintiness served well enough for her to finish 2nd on this year’s edition…

And as always, let’s hex the patriarchy together.
